About the Paints
What are your paints made from?
All Wispy Makes watercolours are handmade using artist-grade pigments (including mica for the shimmer colours) bound with a mixture of gum arabic, glycerin, and honey. No fillers, no shortcuts - just small-batch paints made with care on my kitchen table in Sydney.
Are your paints non-toxic and safe to use?
Yes! The ingredients I use are the same as those found in professional artist-grade watercolours. That said, these paints are not specifically tested or certified for use by children, so I recommend adult supervision for young painters.
How long do the paints last?
Watercolours have a very long shelf life when stored properly. Keep your paints in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and they should last for years. If a pan ever dries out completely, just add a few drops of water and let it rehydrate - it will come back to life!
Do the shimmer paints work differently from regular watercolours?
They work the same way, but the mica pigment means they need a little more activation time. Add a few drops of water, let the pan sit for about 20 seconds, then give it a gentle stir before painting. This helps the shimmer particles suspend evenly in the water and gives you the best colour payoff.
My paint has tiny bubbles / looks a bit uneven on the surface. Is that normal?
Yes, completely normal! Because every pan is hand-mixed and hand-poured, small cosmetic quirks are part of the charm. Bubbles on the surface (particularly with the shimmer pinks) and slight variations in texture don't affect how the paint performs - once you wet it, it should behave beautifully.
Orders and Shipping
How long will it take to receive my order?
Please allow 3-5 business days for handling while your order is prepared and packed. After that, delivery times depend on your location. You'll receive a shipping confirmation email once your order is on its way.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes - international shipping is a flat fee of $20.
How are orders packaged?
Orders are carefully packed to protect your paints in transit. Palettes are wrapped securely so nothing rattles around or gets damaged on its way to you.
What if my order arrives damaged?
I'm so sorry if that happens! Please reach out via the Contact page as soon as possible with a photo of the damage, and I'll do my best to make it right.
Products and Customisation
Can I order a custom palette?
I love this idea! Custom palettes aren't listed in the shop yet, but feel free to get in touch and let me know what you have in mind. I'm happy to chat about what might be possible.
Can I buy individual pans to refill my palette?
Yes! Several individual half pan colours are available in the shop. If the specific colour you're after isn't listed, feel free to contact me and I'll let you know if it's something I can make.
The product I want is out of stock. Will it come back?
Most likely yes! Because everything is made in small batches, stock is limited but I do restock regularly. The best way to stay in the loop is to follow @wispymakes on Instagram where I announce new drops and restocks.
